چکیده

INTRODUCTION Planorbis planorbis (Ram's Horn Snail) is a species of air-breathing freshwater snail, an aquatic gastropod mollusk in the family Planorbidae. It is one of the most common freshwater snails in Europe, occurs in numerous water body types with a preference for standing water such as ponds, swamps or lakes with slow moving or stagnant waters. As typical freshwater invertebrate it is commonly used as test species for ecotoxicological investigations of various chemicals including pesticides [1, 2]. The aim of this study is to be reveal the acute toxicity of cyclopentanespiro-5hydantoin (CPSH), cyclohexanespiro-5-hydantoin (CHSH), cyclopentanespiro-5-(2,4dithiohydantoin) (CPSDTH) and 1-aminocyclopentanecarboxylic acid (ACPCA) towards Planorbis planorbis.

Molluscicidal activity of vulgarone B against ram's horn snail (Planorbella trivolvis).

The ram's horn snail (Planorbella trivolvis (Say)) is an intermediate host for a digenetic trematode (Bolbophorus confusus (Krause) Dubois) that has recently been discovered to be a significant problem in commercial channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus Raf) production ponds in the Mississippi Delta region in the USA. In these catfish ponds, the digenetic life cycle of this parasitic trematode i...

Neotropical planorbid snails with apertural lamellae. I. Biomphalaria helophila (Orbigny, 1835).

A definition of Biomphalaria helophila (Orbigny, 1835) is presented, based on examination of the shell and reproductive system of topotypic specimens and extended to a number of samples from other localities. The following nominal species and subspecies, collected from type localities, proved junior synonyms of B. helophila. Planorbis albicans Pfeiffer, 1839, Planorbis dentatus Gould, 1844; Pla...

Short Communication Extracellular Changes in Ion Concentrations Induced by Acetylcholine in the Salivary Glands of the Pond Snail Planorbis Corneus

Salivary gland cells of the pond snail Planorbis corneus produce a biphasic depolarizing-hyperpolarizing electrical response following the application of acetylcholine (ACh). Ion-substitution experiments have indicated that the depolarizing phase of the ACh response is produced at least in part by an influx of Na + , while the subsequent hyperpolarization results from the activity of an electro...

A bird's eye survey of Central American planorbid molluscs.

In the course of two trips to Central America (June 1967 and JulyAugust 1976) I had the opportunity of collecting topotypic specimens of Planorbis nicaraguanus Morelet, 1849, anatomically defined in this paper, and of P. yzabalensis Crosse & Fischer, 1879, the identity of the latter with Drepanotrema anatinum (Orbigny, 1835) is confirmed. The following planorbid species were also found: Helisom...

Demonstration of two distributions of vesicle radius in the dopamine neuron of Planorbis corneus from electrochemical data.

An electrochemical model to calculate the relative size and neurotransmitter concentration of individual nerve cell vesicles is presented to examine potentially different types of vesicles in Planorbis corneus. Amperometric current transients resulting from individual exocytosis events detected from single cells contain the information necessary to quantify vesicular neurotransmitter amount and...
